An Exciting Adventure at Mallorca Island Part I

It was time for another exciting beach vacation. Travel restrictions seemed to have lifted in Europe, but the United States coronavirus cases continued increasing. While most countries tightened restrictions to the US, some remained loose by only requiring a covid 19 vaccination card. Fortunately, Spain maintained loose entry requirements and welcomed me with delightful warm September weather.

Why choosing Mallorca?

Simple… It has many cool beaches; great warm weather; lower crowds in September; exceptional old towns with fascinating Spanish architecture; a breathtaking countryside; and a great variety of relaxing resorts. In short, this small island is packed with many reasons to go.

The Plans

I wanted to experience a little bit of everything, including tranquility, fun, and some thrill. To do this, I rented a small car from Avis to be more time-efficient and stay flexible with our plans.

I drove for approximately 50 minutes from the Mallorca Airport to Alcudia and spent the first half of the trip in Alcudia. Here, I was looking to have a fun and relaxing time. The second half was planned to be more active by staying in Palma de Mallorca and then exploring different sights around the Island.

Prinsontel Resort

While the name of the resort doesn’t sound like a fun place, the experience was the complete opposite. I rented a comfortable apartment with a small kitchen and refrigerator. The resort had a swimming pool with a bar, a well-equipped gym, a ping pong table, a buffet restaurant, and breathtaking gardens. It was also located within walking distance from the beach and restaurants. The food at the buffet was top-notch; however, the swimming pool was a bit too cold to enjoy.

One thing that has always been important to me when searching for a hotel is finding one with a refrigerator. This way, I can enjoy cold drinks, save money, and do not have to dine out when feeling tired.

Platja de Muro

I stayed in Alcudia primarily because of this beach. It was portrayed as the perfect place to relax and have a peaceful time. Fortunately, it proved to have the vibe I was looking for.

The beach had a delightful crystal-clear light blue color. And, although the water was not warm, the beach was not crowded and mostly had calm waves. My favorite thing was walking in the shallow beach and contemplating my future without interruptions.

Port d’ Alcudia Harbor

This is a charming pedestrian street with large palm trees and restaurants overlooking the harbor. The street continues over to Platja de Muro beach. I found it to be the perfect place for a dinner date and an evening stroll afterwards.

Alcudia Old Town

The Alcudia Old Town, one of my favorite sights in Mallorca, is a charming labyrinth of narrow alleys, picturesque houses, quaint shops, and delightful restaurants. Its impressive colonial Spanish architecture adds to its allure. Surrounded by a historic wall, the town exudes a sense of timeless beauty and tranquility.

Alcudia is very active at night with many restaurants and bars open. The warm lights, the gardens, the astonishing architecture, and the lively environment delivered the perfect scene for a unique outdoor dining experience. I enjoyed eating a delicious pizza under the shining stars.

Paella Time!

Of course, I could not miss eating traditional Spanish paella. I was very fortunate to find a place that made it really good.

Fresh-made paella always comes in big plates so be prepared to share and possibly take some to go. Tip: Squeeze Lemon Juice on paella!

Last Thoughts

My time in Alcudia was both fun and stress-free. I enjoyed the resort amenities, the beach, the harbor, and the old town. It is an amazing place for those seeking fun and tranquility in the Island.
