    Lately, I’ve been hearing about the dangers of traveling to Latin American countries. This has sparked my curiosity to discover whether these countries are safe to visit or if that’s what the U.S. media wants people to believe. Having recently traveled to Costa Rica and experiencing nothing less than a fantastic time, I decided to investigate this notion further. I began by Google-searching “Guatemala” and learning about its impressive Mayan Ruins, breathtaking nature, majestic colonial city, and gigantic lake surrounded by indigenous villages.     My trip to Costa Rica was full of surprises. Most of them were great, such as the fabulous time I had at La Fortuna and its many attractions; others, like the continuous rain and flooding were not as great. After considerable thought, I concluded that it would be better to skip the beach towns of Manuel Antonio and Dominical, cut the trip short, and spend a full day exploring the capital city of Costa Rica.
